How to get the plate into the car

Important NTFS does not work. The stick must be exFAT or FAT32. With NTFS the car does not see the LicensePlate folder. Reformat, then copy the files again. No map or firmware files on the same stick.

Whole plateWhole plate: leave the field in the car empty. If the number is already in the PNG, type nothing into the number field in the car.

Check the stick (locally)

We read the folder in your browser only. Nothing is uploaded.

  1. Plug in the stick. In Explorer right-click → Format → file system exFAT (not NTFS).
  2. Create a folder LicensePlate at the top level. Exactly like that, no spaces.
  3. Put the PNG inside. At most 10 files. Or unpack the USB set ZIP.
  1. Disk Utility → Erase → format ExFAT or MS-DOS (FAT). Not APFS or Mac OS Extended.
  2. Folder LicensePlate at the top level.
  3. Drag the PNG in and eject the stick.
  1. exFAT or FAT32. Do not use NTFS.
  2. Folder LicensePlate in the root of the partition.
  3. Copy the PNG, unmount safely.

In the car

  1. Plug the stick into the USB port in the glovebox.
  2. Toybox → Paint Shop → Customize → License Plate → Background.
  3. Choose the image. If the number is already in the image, leave the Number field empty.

If it does not work

NTFS: reformat the stick as exFAT, then copy the files again.

The folder has a different name or sits inside another folder. It must be called exactly LicensePlate and sit at the top.

The file name has spaces or accented letters. Letters and digits only, for example ZH123456.png.

More than 10 files. Tesla then shows no images.

The image is not 420×100 or 420×200. This generator keeps to that size.
